Thanks for that. Terrible experience for the kid and family, but a valuable lesson.

"Abstain from blood" reasoning
by Wayward Son inmost of the scriptures pertaining to the use of blood are straight forward.

Similar story as REDVIP that just goes to show the cult indoctrination:
Girl grows up in spiritually "weak" household (parents are real losers, to be honest), never gets baptized, doesn't go to meetings or service, but gets knocked up by her "worldly" boyfriend at 17. Disastrous.
So she's pregnant and there are complications, and she's rushed to the hospital. The doctors talk about using blood, and its at THAT POINT this kid says, "No no!! I can't take blood, I'm a Jehovah's Witness!"
Classic.

Movie BLACKFISH Reminds Me of Watchtower Corporation
by OnTheWayOut inyou can google it to learn more but blackfish is a documentary about killed whales in captivity.
particularly a male named tilicum who wound up killing trainers, the last one in 2010.. i had to bite my tongue when my jw wife said "whad did ya think?".
i answered but wanted to say that seaworld giving the impression that trainers were most highly educated was a lie, telling the public these were isolated instances of trainer error was a lie, and all their actions and area tions made me think of wts.. trainers were typically not marine biologist but just young eager excellent swimmers.

I can't tell you what goes with a cigar, but I can tell you that Macallan 18yr is perhaps one of the most delightful liquids to ever touch my palate.
Exquisite.

Thanks for posting this.
I wholeheartedly agree with the sentiment of the article, but yeah, ain't never gonna happen. . . at least not in the US.
I could see this happening in those "backwards" Scandinavian countries, but not here.

607 BC vs 587 BC: Archaeoastronomy for Everyone
by Londo111 inhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=amobor6pdbo.
even though this is an appendix to the main series, i thought id share this.
likely, it is not the most riveting video, but im hoping it can empower those interested in starting research into astronomical diaries like vat 4956. some might think its too complicated, but i believe such research is within everyones reach.

LONDO111 - outstanding job!
Don't apologize for being boring. Some of the most important things in life are "boring"! To me, personally, this is far from boring.

Really enjoyed the CONvention....why?
by punkofnice ini remember when i was a mind cleansed(tm) jw i would listen to the talks when i wasn't napping.. on the long tiring drive home i'd say how i ''enjoyed(tm)'' the sessions and felt ''encouraged(tm)''.. .....and yet i couldn't recall a single ''point(tm)'' made.
i couldn't remember what it was that actually made me feel good.. on one occasion i asked the family what they found ''encouraging(tm)'' or interesting.. tumble weed.
no examples.

CONventions are a form of dissonance reduction.
You spend your life trying to reconcile the wacky beliefs and attitudes of this cult with the real world, and month after month that unpleasant feeling of cognitive dissonance grows.
Spending a few days with thousands of people who nod their heads and believe the same as you reduces that unpleasant feeling.
Thus, the CONvention "high".
It really has nothing to do with the actual content of the program.
